Equinor has announced the death of one of its employees following a helicopter accident near Bergen, Norway, on Wednesday evening.

The accident occurred while the helicopter was on a training mission for Equinor and was connected to the SAR (search and rescue) service in the Oseberg region of the North Sea.

Equinor is cooperating closely with helicopter operator Bristow Norway and the relevant authorities in the management and follow-up of the incident.

The cause of the accident is not yet known. Following the accident, Equinor decided to halt all scheduled flights on the Norwegian continental shelf, out of consideration for those affected and to gain an overview of the situation.
