Pfizer Inc. on Thursday said it named Aamir Malik executive vice president and chief business innovation officer, effective Aug. 30.

Pfizer said Mr. Malik succeeds John Young, who is retiring after 34 year with the New York drugmaker.

Pfizer said Mr. Malik, who will be a member of its executive leadership team reporting to Chairman and Chief Executive Albert Bourla, joins from McKinsey & Co., where he most-recently served as the managing partner responsible for the consulting giant's U.S. operations and previously led its global pharmaceuticals and medical products practice.

Mr. Young has been Pfizer's chief business innovation officer since January 2019.
