More than 30,000 people in Wallenstam's cost-free housing queue think that the location is most important when choosing a new home. 94 percent of the housing applicants want proximity and access to good public transport, 91 percent think it is important to have proximity to stores and 85 percent want proximity to green areas. This emerges from a recently conducted survey of Wallenstam's housing queue. Approximately 66 percent of the respondents in the survey also think that the carbon footprint is important in the choice of housing.

At year-end, Wallenstam had 1,948 apartments under construction. The newly produced apartments in Stockholm, Uppsala and Gothenburg have been allocated for some years through the company's cost-free housing queue. The same people have now participated in the survey and provided answers about what they prioritize when choosing a new home.

"Good location and attractive, central addresses are high on the wish list. We have received several very interesting inputs, which will give us a good basis going forward when we plan, develop and construct new housing in our regions," says Hans Wallenstam, CEO of Wallenstam

One of Wallenstam's climate targets in the current business plan is to reduce CO2 emissions from the construction operations by 10 percent per square meter.

"It is very interesting that most of those applying for housing think that the sustainability aspect is important. This is a clear signal to us and to the entire property sector of how important our focus on the sustainability issue is. At Wallenstam, we are continually striving for more climate-smart construction in our new production operations," says Karin Mizgalski, Sustainability Manager at Wallenstam.

Application to Wallenstam's housing queue may be easily made via www.wallenstam.se. From the age of 16, you can register in the queue. You can apply for an apartment after you have turned 18.
