Promoting gender equality within our business:

For a second year we received recognition for the diversity of leadership within our Executive Committee and Board. We also scored highly for a number of policies we have in place to foster a diverse and inclusive culture, particularly around flexible working, family care and health care.

Promoting gender equality in the communities where we operate:

This year our community engagement received the maximum score for educational programmes and public support. Our women's empowerment programmes have supported over 390,000 women to date through initiatives such as education and skills training. In total, our community programmes reached over 164,000 women in 2018 alone.

Peter T. Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg and Founding Chairman of the U.S. 30% Club, said:

'We applaud Diageo and the other 229 firms tracked by the index for their action to measure gender equality through the Bloomberg GEI framework. Diageo's GEI inclusion is a strong indicator to its employees, investors and industry peers alike that it is leading by example to advance ongoing efforts for a truly inclusive workplace.'

This year's list has doubled in size from 2018 and includes firms from 10 sectors headquartered across 36 countries and regions.

Methodology:

Bloomberg's standardized reporting framework offers public companies the opportunity to disclose information on how they promote gender equality across four separate areas - company statistics, policies, community engagement and products and services. Reporting companies that score above a globally-established threshold, based on the extent of disclosures and the achievement of best-in-class statistics and policies, are included in the GEI.
