Motiva Enterprises on Friday reported an operational disruption that led to excessive gas emissions at its refinery in Port Arthur, Texas.
"The Motiva Port Arthur Refinery experienced a process incident that resulted in flaring with emissions in excess of a reportable quantity," the refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality." It said the sulfur dioxide emissions lasted more than seven hours, ending early Friday morning.
The 603,000-barrel-a-day Motiva Port Arthur refinery, located east of Houston, is owned by Saudi Arabia's state-owned Aramco. It's the largest refinery in the U.S.
