TATNEFT : Is an Active Participant in the UN Global Compact

On March 9, TATNEFT received the confirmation of the Company's active status as a member of the UN Global Compact following the first-year results of joining the largest international initiative on the sustainable development.

The Company's actions to integrate 10 Principles and 17 Sustainable Development Goals into the Company's activities, confirmed by the Statement of Nail Maganov, General Director, became the basis for compliance with the 'Active Participant' level.

TATNEFT had been historically adhering to the corporate social responsibility principles and joining the Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals was a conscious step in the development of the corporate strategy. The Company had expanded task list on ESG aspects and set the goal of transition to carbon neutrality by 2050. The priority SDGs had been selected, in the implementation of which TATNEFT could achieve the greatest progress and efficiency, taking into account the industry specifics.

The first year of the Company's participation in the Global Compact was marked by milestone events. 2020 was the 20th anniversary year of the Global Compact creation and the 5th anniversary of adopting the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The year 2020 also confirmed the crucial importance of uniting all efforts in sustainable development as the COVID-19 pandemic had become a serious challenge to mankind at large.

The Company adheres to the position of 'creating common value', taking into account the interests of the public at large. This means that TATNEFT takes into account all the impacts that the Company has on the stakeholders and makes the commercial choice taking into account the social aspects. The Company plans to introduce the concept of 'Social License' into the corporate practice in the near future, which will strengthen interaction with the public environment.

While implementing sustainable development programs, TATNEFT actively interacts with a wide range of industry and public associations, educational, environmental, and medical centers, as well as with accounting and other experts in various fields.

TATNEFT is a Governing Council member of the UN Global Compact National Network in Russia.

In 2020, the Company initiated a corporate volunteer movement to promote the Sustainable Development Goals among young people. This project will be included in the Volunteer Movement Program of the UN Global Compact in Russia National Network.
