Bloom Energy will supply up to 2.8 gigawatts of fuel cell energy systems for Oracle in an expanded partnership between the two companies.
Oracle has contracted an initial 1.2 gigawatts of capacity from Bloom, with deployment expected to continue into next year, the companies said Monday.
Bloom Energy shares jumped 9.7% to $194.13 in after-hours trading Monday. The stock closed up 6% at $176.67, having more than doubled in value this year.
The companies said the expanded partnership will support the buildout of Oracle's artificial-intelligence and cloud-computing infrastructure, adding that it reflects a shift toward distributed, onsite energy generation for digital infrastructure.
"By rapidly deploying Bloom's reliable, efficient fuel cell energy, we are quickly meeting the demands of our customers across the United States," Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Executive Vice President Mahesh Thiagarajan said.
