Cerence AI filed a complaint against Amazon with the U.S. International Trade Commission.

The company, which makes conversational artificial-intelligence products, asked the agency to block the importation of certain smart devices that infringe on its voice technology patents, including some speakers, televisions, and tablets.

The company alleged that products using its core technologies were used without authorization across Amazon devices and platforms.

"These actions reflect our commitment to defending the patented technologies that underpin our products and enable the conversational AI-powered experiences our customers rely on. We will pursue all appropriate remedies to protect the value of our R&D investments," Cerence AI General Counsel Jennifer Salinas said.

Amazon didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
