Woodside Energy awarded Green Tug Towing a services contract valued at more than $300 million to design and build four tugboats for the company's liquified natural gas terminal in Louisiana.

Green Tug, a joint venture between Harbor Docking & Towing and Saltchuk Marine, will build the tugboats at C&C Marine and Repair in Belle Chase, La., and deliver them to the terminal in 2028.

Woodside said Friday that the Green Tug contract puts its total commitments for the project at more than $1 billion.

The tugboats will provide towing services at the terminal for a 20-year term. Construction is scheduled to begin this year, Woodside said.

The contract is expected to support around 70 direct local jobs, as well as 30 indirect positions and 60 temporary positions, the company said.
