Eli Lilly on Wednesday said Alonzo Weems, executive vice president of enterprise risk management and chief ethics and compliance officer, plans to retire at the end of the year after more than a quarter of a century with the drugmaker.

Eli Lilly said Weems, who is a member of its executive committee, will remain in his post while the Indianapolis company conducts an internal and external search for a new chief ethics and compliance officer.

Weems joined Eli Lilly as an attorney in 1997.
