Petrobras on EIG Energy´s lawsuit

Rio de Janeiro, August 9, 2022 - Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. - Petrobras, following up on the release disclosed on March 31, 2017, informs that on August 8, 2022, the United States District Court´s judge for the District of Columbia issued a ruling in the lawsuit filed by EIG Energy Fund XIV, L.P. and others (EIG) against Petrobras regarding their investment in Sete Brasil Participações S.A..

The judge held that Petrobras is liable on plaintiffs' claims, but denied plaintiffs' summary judgment motion with respect to damages, and any award of damages on these claims will have to be proven by EIG at trial. In the same ruling, the court denied Petrobras' motion for summary judgment to dismiss all of the plaintiffs' claims and deferred ruling on two procedural issues.

This decision is subjected to appeals.

Petrobras reinforces that the company will vigorously continue defending itself in the lawsuit and reassures its status as a victim of the illicit activities investigated in light of Operation Car Wash, as recognized by all instances of the Brazilian Judiciary branch.
