(Alliance News) - Banco BPM Spa announced Tuesday that, following the exceptional weather events that struck the regions of Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, and Basilicata, the company is intervening "to support affected households and businesses" with the allocation of a EUR200 million credit facility and "the activation of a loan moratorium."

Under the measure approved by the group, it will be possible to apply, on favorable terms, for financing intended to provide liquidity to families and companies dealing with the consequences of the damage sustained.

With the activation of the moratorium, the lender informed, it will also be possible to request a suspension of up to 12 months on the principal portion of loan installments for businesses and mortgages for families residing in or owning property damaged by the storms.

Requests to access the moratorium must be submitted to the bank by May 31.

Banco BPM shares were trading up 0.8% at EUR12.15 per share on Tuesday.
