‌Introduction‌

Already today, our products generate savings of around 130 million tons of CO2 equivalents in the course of their use. This figure is 45 times the emissions arising from the manufacture of the products. We will continue to improve this ratio in the coming years with increasingly energy-efficient and intelligent semiconductor solutions. A prime example is our next-generation silicon carbide technology for power systems, which will make a significant contribution to decarbonization when used in electric cars, charging stations, solar and wind power plants or industrial drives.

At the same time, we are continuing to reduce our own carbon footprint. We will make Infineon carbon-neutral by the end of the 2030 fiscal year. To achieve this, we are working above all on avoiding direct emissions (scope 1). By the end of the 2025 fiscal year, we will have equipped all our frontend manufacturing sites with air abatement systems. Our CO2 target also includes indirect emissions associated with the purchase of electricity and heat (scope 2). By the end of the 2024 fiscal year, our scope 1 and scope 2 emissions were around 66.3 percent below the emissions in the base year 2019. This places us well on track to achieve our interim target by the end of the 2025 fiscal year of a 70 percent reduction in emissions compared with the base year 2019. We aim to be a pioneer in sustainability in the semiconductor industry.

Evidence that we are meeting this objective comes from an analysis of our direct competitors. This analysis shows that, in the 2023 fiscal year, Infineon had the lowest normalized scope 1 and scope 2 emissions and the lowest water consumption in

The world has faced acute global challenges in 2024. These have highlighted once again the importance and urgency of finding solutions that set the world on a sustainable development path. Microelectronics is a key technology to meet the challenges of our time, of which the climate crisis and the digital transformation are the most crucial. Semiconductors enable more efficient use of scarce resources and the exploitation of the full potential of digital technologies. At Infineon, we are

aware of the great opportunities offered by technology and of our resulting corporate social responsibility. Our aim is to drive forward decarbonization and digitalization and, as a company, to make a substantial contribution to a better life for as many people as possible.

this peer group.

We are now going one step further and setting ourselves a science-based target in accordance with the targets set out in the Paris Climate Agreement to limit global warming. The Science Based Targets initiative is widely recognized as a benchmark for climate protection measures adopted by companies. With this target, we will also include our supply chain (scope 3) in our climate protection efforts in the future. We are encouraging our suppliers to set their own targets to reduce carbon emissions, thus considerably extending our climate strategy.

‌Our decision that we will henceforth publish detailed data on our Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is a further milestone. An increasing number of customers want transparency about their own carbon footprint based on product-specific data. The Product Carbon Footprint discloses the respective carbon footprints of individual products, enabling a comparison between the climate impact of different products. Currently, we provide comprehensive Product Carbon Footprint data for around half of our product portfolio. We will continue to expand this by including additional product groups. Thus, we enable our customers to gain greater insight into their carbon footprint.

We are constantly developing our strategy for environmental sustainability, which we want to embed even more firmly in all our company's functions and operations. In the 2024 fiscal year, we therefore launched a Group-wide project that prioritizes four action areas: sustainability at our sites, sustainability in our supply chain, sustainability as part of Infineon's corporate culture, and sustainability with our products. We ensure we take a holistic approach and prioritize environmental sustainability in our company as we want Infineon to continue to be a strong partner supporting the needs of employees, investors and customers.

We attach importance not only to environmental sustainability but also to social commitment. This is even more important in the challenging times in which we live. Infineon is represented in many countries in the world. Our company and our employees are part of the economy and of society. We are involved in the following corporate citizenship areas of activity: Environmental Sustainability, Education for Future Generations, Local Social Needs and Responding to Natural and Humanitarian Disasters.

We are committed to respecting human rights and protecting the environment, both in our own business area and along our global supply chains. Compliance with international standards and principles and all laws relating to human rights and environmental protection is a matter of course for us.

Infineon's continuous commitment to sustainability is also reflected in the ratings awarded to the company by independent institutions. We would like to highlight some examples from the 2024 fiscal year:

  • For the first time, Infineon received an AAA rating (based on a scale from AAA to CCC) in the MSCI Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Ratings.

  • For the third year in a row, our company was awarded the EcoVadis Platinum medal. This means that Infineon belongs to the top 1 percent of companies assessed. EcoVadis is an independent rating agency that rates suppliers on the basis of their environmental, social and financial performance.

  • Infineon is listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability™ World Index. For the fourteenth time in a row, we were included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index family.

This means that our company ranks among the leading companies in the world for sustainability.

  • Infineon was included in the Morningstar Sustainalytics ESG Top-Rated Companies List 2024. This is a result of the Sustainalytics ESG Risk Rating, which comprises more than 14,000 companies from 42 industry sectors.

This overview and the following report demonstrate Infineon's systematic approach to implementing its sustainability strategy. We are making good progress and are setting ourselves new and ambitious targets so that we can continue to live up to our claim of being a pioneer in sustainability in the new fiscal year and beyond.
