(Alliance News) - The Ministry of Economy has defined the new leadership structure for state-owned enterprises, balancing strategic reappointments with decisive leadership changes, as reported by Il Sole 24 Ore on Friday.

Continuity prevails in the energy sector: at Eni, Claudio Descalzi secures a historic fifth term as CEO to continue the group's strengthening initiated in 2014; meanwhile, the chairmanship has been unexpectedly entrusted to Giuseppina Di Foggia, who steps down from her role at Terna.

The outgoing leadership at Enel has also been reaffirmed, confirming the duo of Chairman Paolo Scaroni and CEO Flavio Cattaneo, backed by a turnaround plan that has propelled the company to a record EUR100 billion market capitalization.

In contrast, radical changes have been made at Leonardo: despite the positive financial results achieved by outgoing CEO Roberto Cingolani, the government has selected Lorenzo Mariani as the new chief executive, supported by Francesco Macrì as Chairman.

Finally, the leadership at ENAV has been overhauled: the departure of Pasqualino Monti — widely tipped as a potential successor at Terna — leads to the appointment of Igor de Biasio as CEO and Sandro Pappalardo, formerly of Ita Airways, as Chairman, completing a series of appointments that balances industrial stability with new political dynamics.
