Alstom secures 915 million euro contract for Belgrade metro
The smart and sustainable mobility specialist has been awarded a 915 million euro turnkey contract for the construction of Belgrade Metro Line 1, Serbia's first fully automated network.
This represents a major breakthrough for the capital, which has long faced structural transportation challenges. This initial phase will span 15 km and serve 15 stations, including 11 km of underground track running through the city center. The project is set to profoundly transform urban mobility: by shifting a significant portion of traffic underground, it aims to permanently ease surface congestion and improve transit flow.
Beyond the transportation aspect, the infrastructure is intended to bolster Belgrade's attractiveness. The integration of one of the world's most advanced automated systems is expected to support the city's economic development, benefiting both residents and international investors.
